The Mystery Rash???

J came down with this rash on Monday, very few bumps on the fronts of his shins.  By Tuesday it covered his entire legs, front and back.  I took him in to the Doc right after School and they said it was probably some sort of Allergy related Rash.  That night and the next morning it had gotten much worse, spreading from his legs to his thighs, tummy, cheek, and behind one ear.  I took him back to doc & two doctors said they thought it was Poison Ivy or Sumac.  We took him to a PA we know from Church last night because his face was starting to swell and he told us it’s the Chicken Pox????

So, which to believe?  Were continuing him on the Meds as follows right now & it seems to be getting better.

IMG_1154

Sean is lathering him up in Calamine Lotion and J is enjoying a fudge pop.

In the mean time I don’t have a rash & it’s not morning sickness, I have Flu Like symptoms of fevers, chills, tummy issues, etc.  Does anyone know, you can’t get chicken pox twice right?  I read that you come down with flu like symptoms prior to the outbreak of pox?  I don’t think pregnant Mama’s are s’pose to have Chicken Pox??

Sean is on his way to pick up his Step Dad & Sister who are flying in this morning to spend Memorial Weekend with us, we better get WELL IN A JIFFY!!!!

Who Knew…..

Nine years ago I had a 6 month pit stop moving from North Carolina back to CA where I spent the majority of my youth.  The Army, much like skydiving never really tells you exactly where your going to land, until right before your bottom smacks the ground.  I remember one evening Eric & I looking at a map “wondering” where we would go.  I said something like “I don’t care where we go, as long as it’s not someplace like Oklahoma, who in their right mind lives there”.  I remember telling my Dad that same thing and he gave me a hard time, told me how much he loved Oklahoma and how he had spent some summers their on a cousins farm.  My hopes were high, I thought with my 2 yrs served as Military Spouse in North Carolina at Ft. Bragg that I would be rewarded BIG to someplace like Hawaii!  The phone call came, Eric said I’m being stationed to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, I report 1st of January (back in 2001).

My Dad made the move with us, Jonathan was still an infant and he was worried about us moving halfway across country in 2 vehicles with the baby, plus he wanted to see Oklahoma again.  When we finally arrived after a few days we pulled in to Lawton, OK on one of the 3 exits off the Hwy into it’s small town & the tears started flowing!  I remember thinking to myself, what on earth did I do to piss God of this badly that he would send us to a place such as this.

3 days later, I had to drive my Dad an hour an a half  to the nearest International Airport in Oklahoma City, OK.  With God and my Dad as my witness, I BEGGED for him to take me back to CA with him!  PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME HERE DAD, PLEASE!!!!  My Dad kind of chuckled the way he does and said “make the best of it honey, you will love it”.  It started snowing on the drive home, at that moment I just knew God had it in for me ;)

3 yrs later…..I moved from OK to MO and I cried almost the entire trip leaving!   Just as my Dad said, I had grown to fall in Love with the simplicity of Oklahoma!

Today’s mailbox had a little special treat inside for me….

Need I say More

Today

partlycloudy

                                                                                                                68° | 45°

See that little orange thing there in between the clouds???  That’s right, the Sun will be shining again today in the PACWEST & I’m Tickled Pink about it!

You see, me and the Sun go way back! I once lived in Sunny Southern CA 12 yrs ago where it did a whole of shining.  The places I’ve lived in the South and Midwest, it did it’s fair share of Spring & Summer time Shining too.

But, here in WA, it’s a rarity & when it does I’m Jumping for Joy!

Saying Thanks

On Friday my husband hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for the Wives of his Unit that dedicate so much of their free time to Volunteering to the Unit while their husbands are currently deployed in Iraq.  He asked if I would help.  Sure, I replied.  He said “Great, our budget is $100 dollars for the luncheon to include the facility, food, & decor!  Eeeekkkssss!

We used the FRC (Family Readiness Center) bldg on post for free and had it for 3 hours!

All in all, it went over well.  I went $60 bucks over budget, not too shabby!  I think the ladies really appreciated it! I learned that Walmart has a SIX FOOT Sandwich for only $25 dollars!!!!!

Jonathan had a soccer game that night.

IMG_0901

He won!!!  His Teacher showed up to his game along with some friends and neighbors, he was thrilled!

Saturday Morning, J and I woke up at O dark 30 and made the hike to Portland with my sweet friend RoseMarie, her kiddos, and her sister to join my sister at the Cancer Society Breast Cancer Walk.

IMG_0999

I knew RoseMarie back in 2001 to 2003 while stationed at Ft. Sill, OK.  Her oldest daughter & J are one week apart.  We did MOPS together, Mommy & Me Swim Classes, Story Time at the Library, and many play dates.  RoseMarie’s Mom passed away during that time to Cancer.  God has BLESSED us to have our paths meet once again here at Ft. Lewis, I’m so Grateful!

Who wants to be a Millionaire?

My Aunt over at her Sweet Life suggested playing a little game about expressing what you would do if you instantly became a Millionaire!  I read it, thought it was funny, then spent the rest of my afternoon at work pondering what I would do (very productive huh).  Since I spent a good majority of my time pondering, I decided to share…..

If I instantly came into a Large Sum of Money I would:

1.  For a couple of reasons, I would buy my own Private Jet.  First, I don’t like flying and I think it would be more comfortable in my own set of wings. Secondly, I have so many friends strung out across the country that I love and miss so much, it would be so wonderful to be able to pick up at any time and go visit!

2.  I would go to France and take a pastry class for a summer.

3.  I would pay to have Box seats at Yankee Stadium and make LARGE Donations to the ball club to the point where Jeter and Posada would know who I am! ;)

4.  I would buy Seannie a Boston Whaler Boat.

5.  I would buy Jonathan an endless supply of Legos.

6.  I would buy a large farm somewhere in the southern Midwest, build my dream farmhouse, get a few horses, cows, and chickens, put on my overalls to garden and sip iced tea on my wrap around porch and enjoy endless amounts of sunsets with my hubby in hopes that he would retire from the Army now that he is married to a Rich Wife!

And, of course donate to all the world causes of illness & support our troops and the wounded warriors from the war!

So, join in the fun, take a breather and daydream a little……what would you do if you became a Millionaire???

P.S.  My husband is sitting on the couch with me as I type this and he said “Katie, don’t you think #4 should come prior to #3”.  Hmmmmmm, it probably should, but I was being honest with my answers!

Which leads me to a #8, I too must really have a cute errand boy!  The husband is no longer sitting next to me on the couch!  I may need to buy a new husband. ;)

Happy Hump Day!

The Mission of Motherhood…….& Winner

Our Weekend starts with a Friday Night Soccer game, J’s team Lost ;(

IMG_0771

Look at this Pathetic Face!  Sean & I took him to his Favorite Italian Sandwich Shop for a mouth watering Pepperoni Sandwich surrounded by Italian paintings.

IMG_0770

This is the half smile he gave us, he was so disappointed to loose!

IMG_0775

Today we went to test drive a Honda Crosstour, but in the attempt to get J in the spirit, we stopped off 1st to just TEST DRIVE a Mini Cooper Clubman!

IMG_0777

J is checking out all it’s bells & whistles & for such a small car, look at the Size of that Speedometer!!

IMG_0781

We came VERY CLOSE to coming home with one today.  We spent a good part of our day there today, and finally before choosing a color I told Sean I thought we should think it over at lunch.  I made the horrible mistake of calling for fatherly advice to my Dad & he gave his spill on how unpractical and unsafe it would be for a daily car.

IMG_0787

So, just for the sake of argument.  This Volkswagen Convertible is the Car I drove as a 16 year old child.  Not sure that this is really a safe daily use vehicle??

Just Saying Dad!

And, while were on the subject, it’s WT to have a non working vehicle parked in your Driveway!

IMG_0782

Isn’t this an attractive picture of me??????  Sean said I looked sooooooooooooooo good in it!!

After lunch we went to the Honda Dealer and drove the new Honda Crosstours, a more MOM PRACTICAL car…..HELLS BELLS WITH PRACTICALITY!  We obviously went home empty handed.

IMG_0785

I’m long over due for drawing a winner for the Mission Motherhood Book in time for Mothers day.

IMG_0786

Sean drew & Mel is the lucky winner!!  Send me your address via email and I will have it off to you in the mail ASAP in time for Mothers Day!

Thank you ALL for sharing your Heartfelt Stories of the Special Moms in your Lives.  Enjoy this up coming week of Mothers Day and Celebrate yourselves & the Moms you Love all week long!  I have a very Special place in my heart for many of the Moms that I have met over the years and throughout the states from a Wonderful Organization known as MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).  And when J turned 5 & I was kicked out due to lack of baby, I have worked as a worker in the Moppet Rooms. I have been so incredibly Blessed by the Moms, Friends, and little Moppets from this Awesome Organization that I joined over 9 years ago!

P.S. She is not my Mom, but a Loving Woman in my Life taught me that as a Lady you can say 3 Curse words a Day, so I’m covered for saying Hells Bells ;)

P.S.S. Dad I Love you ;)
